New Feature: Brave the Woods

I’ve got great news! Yesterday I was featured on Brave the Woods, the blog of illustrator Brad Woodward. I recently took a Skillshare class taught by Brad tittled: Communicate with Color, Pattern and Texture. The class ended about a week ago, and yesterday Brad featured a handful of the projects (out of over 300!) that he thought were the strongest works on his professional blog. I couldn’t be more excited that he chose mine as one of them! You can go read the article and see the other featured projects here, and I’ve also posted my project below with a close up of the details!

I really tried to focus on implementing texture and choosing a strong color palette with this piece. I utilized a variety of techniques including scanning in and digitally combining many different versions of the illustration using gouache, pencil, and pen and ink. I think the overall feel is very hand-made and humble, which is just what I was going for!
