Week 48: Southwestern U.S. Art

#MightCouldDrawToday Week 48: Southwestern U.S. Art. Christine Nishiyama, Might Could Studios.

Oh, this week was so FUN!

I know I’m the one who picks these drawing prompts, so you’d think I would love all of them, but ya never really know what you’re gonna like or not like, so it’s always a toss-up! Sometimes I love prompts I thought I’d hate, and sometimes I hate prompts I thought I’d love.

In this case, I loved it! And that love comes through in my drawings in a sense of play, experimentation, and freedom. Which is what I’m always aiming for in my drawings.

That mindset and feeling gives me not only the most post-drawing satisfaction (“hey, I kinda like that!”), but also the most fun during the process of making! A double whammy that seems to always go hand-in-hand. :)

Week 48 Challenge Winner

#MightCouldDrawToday Week 48: Southwestern U.S. Art. Art by Peter Druska.

Peter Druska!

Congratulations, Peter! I love the simplicity of your drawings, and seeing them together as a series is wonderful! They have a real feeling of cohesion with the consistent color palette and linework. And it’s cool to see you experimented too, and broke out of that box with a lovely skull drawing that still totally fits in the group! And of course, awesome job drawing all 7 days! :D

As this week’s winner, Peter will receive a brand new artist pen.
